LC connectors provide compact fiber-optic connections used on network switches, transceivers, patch panels, media converters and other communications equipment. LC patch cords may use LC connectors on both ends or transition between LC and another fiber connector style.
LC-to-LC cables connect equipment using compatible LC interfaces at both ends. Duplex assemblies are common for applications requiring separate transmit and receive fibers, while other configurations should be selected according to the connected equipment.
Hybrid fiber cords transition between LC and connectors such as SC or ST. These assemblies are useful when equipment at opposite ends of a fiber link uses different connector formats while remaining compatible with the same optical fiber system.
LC connector style does not determine the fiber mode. Patch cords may be designed for single-mode or multimode systems, so the fiber type and optical requirements must match the equipment and installed fiber plant.
