Choose a case by matching the equipment dimensions, protection level, internal organization, carrying method, expected handling conditions and whether foam, pallets, wheels or telescoping handles are required.
Start with the equipment being protected. Measure the overall length, width and height, then allow space for foam, tool pallets, dividers, cables and accessories that must travel with the equipment.
For field-service tools, internal organization and access can be as important as impact protection. Pallets, sewn pockets and removable panels help keep tools visible and separated, while molded shells provide additional structure and protection.
For shipping or frequent transport, consider case construction, hardware, handles, wheels and the expected handling environment. Products described as ATA-style or heavy-duty shipping cases are intended for more demanding transport than light-duty carrying cases.
Platt model suffixes often identify configuration differences such as foam, pallets, hardware, wheels, handles or color. Compare the complete model number rather than assuming similarly sized cases are interchangeable.
