Coax connector tools mechanically attach compatible connectors to prepared coaxial cable. The correct tool depends on the connector design, cable series and whether the termination uses compression, traditional crimping or another attachment method.
Compression tools are commonly used with compatible F-type connectors on RG6, RG59 and related cable. Tool dimensions and compression travel must match the connector design so the connector is fully seated without damaging the cable or fitting.
Traditional BNC terminations may require a crimp tool and die sized for the connector ferrule and center contact. Match the connector to the exact cable construction and use the crimp dimensions specified for that connector family.
Ratcheting crimpers help complete a full crimp cycle before the tool releases. Interchangeable-die systems can support several coax connector types, but the die cavity must match the ferrule or contact dimensions required by the connector.
Coaxial cables with similar connector families can still have different outside diameters, shield constructions and center-conductor dimensions. Verify both the cable type and connector before choosing the compression or crimping tool.
