UHF and Mini-UHF RF Connectivity

UHF and Mini-UHF connectors are used with radio, communications, antenna and other RF equipment. Although the two families serve related applications, they use different physical dimensions and should be identified correctly before selecting replacement components or adapters.

UHF Connector Applications

Traditional UHF connectors are commonly associated with radio and communications equipment. Cable plugs, equipment jacks and adapters are available for several coax cable constructions and installation styles.

Mini-UHF Connectors

Mini-UHF connectors provide a more compact threaded RF interface for compatible mobile, radio and communications equipment. Available configurations can include cable plugs, panel jacks, bulkhead jacks and PCB-mounted receptacles.

Cable-Mount and Panel-Mount Connections

Cable-mounted connectors should be matched to the exact coax cable dimensions and termination method. Panel, bulkhead and PCB-mounted versions require compatible equipment openings, board layouts and mechanical clearances.

UHF and Mini-UHF Adapters

Adapters can provide gender changes, inline splices, right-angle connections or transitions to another compatible RF interface. Verify both connector families and genders before selecting an adapter.

Selecting the Correct UHF Connector

Determine whether the equipment uses standard UHF or Mini-UHF, then verify connector gender, cable type, mounting method and termination style. For cable connectors, match the component to the physical coax dimensions rather than relying solely on cable-family naming.
