Connectivity for Computers and Peripheral Equipment

Computer and peripheral systems use many different physical interfaces for data transfer, device control, storage and equipment connection. Although newer systems commonly use USB and other modern interfaces, industrial, commercial and installed equipment may continue to rely on serial, SCSI and other legacy standards.

USB Connectivity

USB cables and adapters support computers, peripherals, data devices and power applications. Connector type and USB generation should be matched to the equipment.

Serial and Parallel Interfaces

RS-232 and parallel interfaces remain common in industrial controls, instrumentation, printers and legacy commercial systems. Cable wiring and connector gender must be verified rather than assumed from connector appearance alone.

Storage Connectivity

Storage interfaces can include SATA, eSATA, IDE, SCSI and associated power or adapter cables. Internal and external versions may use different connectors and wiring arrangements.

KVM and Peripheral Connections

KVM and peripheral cables connect keyboards, video displays, mice and associated control equipment. Verify the interfaces used at both ends of the cable.

Supporting Legacy Equipment

Many factories, laboratories and commercial installations continue operating equipment that relies on older computer interfaces. Maintaining access to compatible cables and adapters can extend the useful life of those systems.
